Malariya Pi: Enhancing Malaria Care with AI in Burundi

Towards a Malaria-Free Burundi with a Holistic Health System Strengthening Approach

In Burundi, a country of nearly 14 million people—half of whom are under the age of 16—malaria remains a major public health challenge, with an incidence rate exceeding 500 cases per 1,000 people. Despite this, the resilience and optimism of the community inspire our ongoing commitment to developing innovative solutions that contribute to the fight against this disease. “Malariya Pi” is more than a phrase; it’s a vision of a better tomorrow. Audere is partnering with Enabel, BlueSquare, and the Programme National Intégré de Lutte contre le Paludisme (PNILP) to pilot an operational program which puts AI-powered technology into the hands of community health workers and health center workers to support quality diagnosis and management of malaria cases.
